Edward
Fraser is a 1939 graduate of Civil Engineering. However,
when his son Bill came to the U of I, Bill decided that
General Engineering was his preferred program. Edward,
then a vice-president of Chicago Bridge and Iron, became
so impressed with GE that in 1963 he set up the award
for the outstanding senior in General Engineering that
bears his name. Interestingly, his son Bill won it the
3rd year - 1965. Mr. Fraser is now retired.
