Certificate Program Overview

The TEC offers three certificate progams:

Technology Commercialization (TC)
The Certificate in Technology Commercialization (TC) is for undergraduate engineering and science students. Understanding the commercialization of technology is becoming increasingly critical for engineers and technologists. With an emphasis on creativity and innovation, this certificate program is designed to provide students the knowledge base needed to explore the various options for commercializing technology. The goal of the program is to help produce the next generation of entrepreneurs and business leaders.

Strategic Technology Management (STM)
The Strategic Technology Management (STM) certificate program is designed for students with an engineering background who aspire to rise in management, make higher level strategic technology/business decisions, and develop leadership skills. From an innovation viewpoint, this program will provide students with the understanding and the tools to propose initiatives, incubate new ventures, and participate in the process of innovation and market adoption within corporate environments.

Business Management for Engineers (BME)
The Business Management for Engineers (BME) certificate for professionals and graduate students concentrates on the principles and practice in business concepts and management skills designed help to build the aptitude of engineers in this area; an expertise that is inherently necessary for successful managers and leaders. It offers students the opportunity to explore the ways that technological innovations are created and adopted throughout the modern world.

Professional Skills Certificate
Administered jointly by the Technology Entrepreneur Center and Engineering Career Services, this certificate complements the technical aspect of the engineering students’ curriculum by concentrating on business and interpersonal skills and the lifelong process of career management; areas of focus that are necessary for a successful workplace experience from a first job through retirement.
